Up until I was in my mid twenties, it was never my intention to let anyone I know discover that I was attracted to men. But when my parents found a rough draft of a letter I had written to my first boyfriend and made clear to me that they still loved me, suddenly I was no longer afraid of other people knowing my sexuality (not everyone, though). I felt incredibly FREE for the first time. I had been unaware of the tremendous amount of stress that I'd been living with. Being in the closet had not only been keeping me lonely, but was also affecting my mental health.
Don't get me wrong. I'm still guarded about what guys I feel comfortable being seen with in public (even though I've always been attracted to slightly effeminate men). And I don't think that being out is a panacea for everyone. It's a very personal decision. But, regarding your desire to be penetrated by Black men that you're attracted to just remember that one in ten men are likely to act on their sexual opportunities when they believe no one is watching. 🤫
